After recent illegal heritage tree removals by developers, D.C. lawmakers want to close a loophole in the law.

A new D.C. law prohibits removal of large trees over 100 inches in circumference. The developer of the old Fannie Mae headquarters on Wisconsin Avenue is moving three such trees to comply with the law.
