The sculptor once interned at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African Art. Now, her work takes up an entire floor of the Hirshhorn.

The museum will begin a modernization of its galleries and infrastructure after it finishes an equally large overhaul of its popular sculpture garden.

The post-Bubble shakeup at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden continued today with the sudden resignation of the chair of its board of trustees.

The decision not to make a decision led the museum’s director Richard Koshalek, who first conceived of the Bubble, to resign.

The “bubble” set to be installed next year at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden has a new name: The Bloomberg Balloon, following a major gift from Bloomberg LP.
