Click Click: The Reston Town Hall Experience
By DCist Contributor Ryan J. Reilly A high-school gymnasium was the perfect forum for a town hall meeting on health care reform hosted by Rep. Jim Moran (D-Va.) in Reston last night, which at times took on the atmosphere of a match between bitter rivals. Howard Dean’s appearance attracted crowds on both sides of the debate, a large pool of local and national media as well as vocal protesters vying for their attention. Moran and…

Talk to Me, Baby
Ralph Baer will take us on a trip in the way back machine Saturday morning at the American History Museum. DCist’s guide to lectures and discussions in the D.C. area While lectures would be the perfect thing to give us some air conditioned entertainment during this sweltering month of August, unfortunately there just aren’t many scheduled. Not to worry though, because Omarosa and Howard Dean are both in town on Thursday, and they’ll surely…

Fenty Set to Endorse Obama
The Post’s David Nakamura reports that Mayor Adrian Fenty plans to endorse Barack Obama for the Democratic presidential nomination. An official announcement has yet to come, but the actions of Fenty adviser Jim Hudson, who organized a fundraiser for Obama, suggest the mayor looks set to get behind the Illinois senator’s campaign. Hudson collected $600,000 and endorsements from some of the mayor’s more loyal D.C. Council members: Yvette Alexander (D-Ward 7), Muriel Bowser (D-Ward 4)…

Elsewhere in the Ist-a-verse
As fall settles in and another calendar page gets turned, thoughts turn from bbq’s and vacations to holidays and the realization that ’06 is coming to an end. With all that going on, with change in the air, we wonder what is it that made that makes the -ists ponder? Phillyist is concerned that the war on Trans fats could affect it’s beloved cheese steak sandwiches, something for which we should all be concerned. They…

Gunning for Grass’s job? Thoughts on kickball? Sending us his pics from Unbuckled? Nope. The message was far more boring — or, depending on your point of view, a statement about our esteemed mayor:MAYOR WILL RIDE METRO TODAY, INSPECT SAFETY…

Your Sunday Politics
(Image of the intersection of Howard Avenue and Dean Street in Brooklyn, from the archives of Satan’s Laundromat.) We turn our attention to Howard Dean, newly ensconced as head of the DNC and looking to revive a party that, with the exception of a trio of tenants in the Mass Court Building in Chinatown, has had precious little to crow about of late. Dean, having lately made the rounds of the various Democratic Party…
