The Council will hold a hearing this morning on a bill that would address how D.C. police handle sexual assault cases and treat survivors.

Lanier said some cases reported as missing were taken over by other police agencies.

Researchers at Human Rights Watch say the Metropolitan Police Department reports an artificially low number of sexual assaults with a remarkably high clearance rate, because many incidents are not being investigated.

A new Human Rights Watch report says that D.C. police confiscate condoms from sex workers and use the number of condoms they are carrying as justification for stopping and questioning them.
