Volunteers at the Humane Rescue Alliance allege that dogs live in their own filth, sometimes staying in their kennels for the better part of several days.
The bill would also add protections for pets involved in divorce proceedings and formally criminalize bestiality.
“We just have an abundance of cats right now that are looking for a good home.”
The alliance has more than 50 large dogs in need of a good home.
The couple is covering the the fees through the end of the month.
The organization is working to implement a foster-centric model.
“It just felt like in that moment that, [for] this creature, it shouldn’t have to be this hard,” says one of the Good Samaritans.
Harvey, a 4-year-old English bulldog who also responds to Pig, Piggie, and Bubba, was rescued over the weekend after thousands shared his photo online.
“We are in critical need of adoptive homes,” says the animal welfare organization.
To be clear, it’s for cat enthusiasts, not the cats themselves.
