District Seeks Statues for National Statuary Hall
Late last September, D.C. Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton requested that the District be allowed to place two statues in the U.S. Capitol’s National Statuary Hall, alongside those chosen by the nation’s 50 states. That idea may soon be moving forward. The D.C. One More Sibling for the District
Damn it. The Post beat us to the punch on a witty title for this story. In an article entitled “District Adopts a Seoul Sister,” the Post today reports that the District’s family of city siblings has grown by one — Seoul, South Korea was designated a sister city yesterday, bringing the tally so far to 10. During a ceremony at the John Wilson Building yesterday, D.C. Mayor Anthony Williams and Seoul Mayor Lee Myung-Bak…

Mayor’s Blog Dies
After a brave but fruitless fight, District officials today announced that D.C. Mayor Anthony Williams’ official blog has passed away. No services have yet been scheduled, and Williams was unavailable for comment at press time. City officials remained mostly quiet on the blog’s passing, though one individual close to the mayor remarked, “Williams had a blog? Really?” Bloggers unofficially stick to the rule that a blog that goes without an update for 30 days or…

United Bow Out of US Open Cup
DC United let one get away last night, losing to FC Dallas 4-1 on penalties in US Open Cup play at the soccer complex in Germantown, Maryland. United had hoped to advance to the Open Cup semifinals for the third time in five years, and appeared to be in control, up 1-0 in the final minute as Freddy Adu sliced deep into the Dallas defense and laid a pass off to an open Brian Carroll…

DC United Notch 1-0 Win Over Crew
Last night in Columbus DC United notched their first road win since their season opener, riding Nick Rimando’s agility and the Crew’s own misfortunes for a hard fought 1-0 victory. In the first half, DC spent the bulk of the time in Columbus’ defensive end, but though they outshot the Crew, Columbus managed to imbue their scant opportunities with a more significant amount of danger. Luckily, Nick Rimando brought his “A” game. In the early…
