D.C.’s Embattled Fire Chief Will Leave Post In July
Kenneth Ellerbe’s tenure has been controversial.
A mayoral spokesman said the letter is “another idiotic political stunt on Councilmember Wells’ part.”
“I’ll welcome him resubmitting the plan, as long as he agrees to perform its measures,” Wells said. “We will say, ‘Just certify on a monthly basis that you can do the things you said you’ll do. And that you’ll add paramedics instead of losing paramedics.”
Just what the heck is wrong with the D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department’s fleet of emergency vehicles? A consulting firm will attempt to find out for $184,000.
Six months after a D.C. man died while waiting for an ambulance following a heart attack, the man’s family is suing the District’s Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services for $12 million.
