Every year at Christmas, Jews in the Washington region and around the country participate in a time-honored holiday tradition: eating Chinese food.
A local Orthodox synagogue has launched an organization that makes it easier for restaurants to get kosher certified.
On Friday and Saturday night, Jews across the world will sit down with family and friends for Passover Seders, retelling the story of their ancestral exodus from bondage in Egypt and partaking in a festive meal. As the week carries on, many will continue to subsist on matzoh, forsaking chametz—grains and the leavened products they produce (bread, pasta, and beer to name a few).

Sixth & Rye, Spike Mendelsohn’s new kosher deli food truck, debuted this morning on the curb outside the Sixth & I Historic Synagogue. Lines, unsurprisingly, were long — but the product was worth the wait.

Out of Eden (Center): Thanh Son Tofu
Written by DCist contributor Andrew Chriss Falls Church offers a diverse array of ethnic cuisine, providing a homespun, lower cost alternative to higher-priced and better-decorated offerings in the District. That being said, it’s been a while since the days when I frequented the BBQ, kosher deli, and pho establishments in Loehmann’s Plaza. We’ve been appealing to the rest of the country’s sense of fairness when we should have been trying to convince them that we’re not just a figment of their high school civics teachers’ collective…

Nats Open RFK, Again
Despite (or maybe because of) their stadium issues, the Washington Nationals and their new owners are reopening RFK Stadium this weekend, introducing new concession stands and a food court and cleaning the place up a bit. There will also be fan festivals before the games and decent pre-game concerts, with U.S. Army bands playing on Friday, go-go legend Chuck Brown on Saturday, and Virginia’s Pat McGee Band on Sunday. And the part we’re most interested…
