The big box chain will open hiring centers for the stores at 99 H Street NW and 5968 Georgia Avenue NW on Monday at 900 2nd Street NE and 7818 Eastern Avenue NW.
Anita Bonds (D-At Large) was the only Councilmember to change her vote, joining the side who opposed the bill.
After Mayor Gray announced he’s vetoing the living wage bill this morning, reactions from other Councilmembers and other organizations have been decidedly mixed.
“While the intentions of its supporters were good, this bill is simply a woefully inadequate and flawed vehicle for achieving the goal we all share,” Gray said of the veto.

Mayor Gray Now Has the ‘Wal-Mart’ Living Wage Bill
The mayor received the bill just after 3:15 p.m., according to his spokesperson Pedro Ribeiro. The ten-day count to either sign or veto the bill begins Tuesday due to the Labor Day holiday, he said.
