Obama Gets on the Bryce Harper Bandwagon

When it comes to his preferred sports teams, President Obama tends to be pretty stern. But Bryce Harper’s sensational debut is making even a longtime White Sox fan like Obama into a Nationals fan.

Gray to Walmart: Build at Skyland, or Don’t Build at All

The District government’s trip to Vegas for this year’s International Council of Shopping Centers annual conference is in the books — but the city’s leaders aren’t holding to the overplayed maxim regarding what happens there. The Post’s Jonathan O’Connell has the big scoop this morning: Mayor Vince Gray informed representatives from Walmart during the conference that if they won’t build an anchor store at the long-vacant Skyland Town Center, they can forget about building the other four stores they’ve planned inside the District.

Salahis to Host a Las Vegas Club Night

It’s really true. Accused White House crashers Tareq and Michaele Salahi have agreed to do a paid personal appearance at the Las Vegas nightclub Pure next week, as Reliable Source first reported early this morning. This is the same way talentless “celebrities” like Paris Hilton or Heidi and Spencer make extra cash. It’s hard to imagine a more perfect confirmation of exactly the sort of people the Salahis are. Though in fairness, it’s even harder…

Ramana apparently trained at something called the Academy of Magical Sciences in India, but sources tell us he had to drop out during his senior year to go on a long, circuitous trip with his two best friends in search of an evil nemesis. Now that David Copperfield has…

D.C. Chef Wins Hell’s Kitchen

Sorry for the bad video, but it’s the only shareable footage we’ve found so far of the season finale of Hell’s Kitchen from last night, which featured chef Rahman “Rock” Harper, Executive Chef at B. Smith’s in Union Station, winning the whole shebang. My oh my, is that some overly dramatic reality game show outcome production — they have to try to open a door to see if it’s locked or not? Sheesh. Rock…

Washington Area Volunteers More Than You

The Post brings news today of a new study study by the Corporation for National and Community Service — the federal agency that administers volunteer programs such as AmeriCorps — that gives a first meaningful look at volunteering rates in U.S. cities since the Census Bureau began gathering this sort of data in 2002. Overall, the Washington metro area ranked 15th in the nation for volunteering and community service work, though that figure doesn’t tell…

Go Home Already: Duck and Weave

>> “Man, if I am ever refused service at a publicly funded institution for wearing a political shirt, I am leaving that fucking place in handcuffs. Someone gets their rights trampled on and she responds with a vegan cake? That is so fucking weak. Grow a pair.” [why.i.hate.dc] >> “If you’ve always wanted one of Sen. John Edwards’ $400 haircuts, now’s your chance. Duvall’s Hair Co., in McPherson Square, put a sign outside its…
