Metro Is Testing Lyft Subsidies As A Fix For Workers Struggling With Late-Night Service Cuts
Beginning July 1, Metro will offer a $3 discount on up to 10 shared Lyft rides each week.
The traditional post-work “hour” has stretched well beyond its original confines, and we’re perfectly fine with that.
A D.C. legislator said today that the Washington Nationals don’t want to pay for late-night Metro service during the post-season over fears that it would set a bad precedent.

When Nats Games Run Late, Metro Closes Doors
While fans who attended last night’s thrilling 13-inning win over the Atlanta Braves complained that they couldn’t get home on Metro, that’s not the transit agency’s fault—it’s the team’s.

Well, this would certainly put a crimp into several people’s weekend plans. According to dispatches from this morning’s Metro board meeting — during which random bag searches will be discussed by the board for the first time — there has been talk about ending late-night service on Friday and Saturday nights.

Billed as “a night of music, comedy, hugging, and the occasional awkward silence,” we’re envisioning a sort of Conan Unplugged extravaganza, with sketches, performances and surely some special celebrity guests. In other words: yes, please. Tickets to the…

Jay Leno to Host White House Correspondents Dinner
As Conan O’Brien prepares to tape his final episode of The Tonight Show this evening, news broke in Lisa de Moraes’ TV Column last night that on top of getting his old show back, Jay Leno is also coming to D.C. in May to host the White House Correspondents Dinner. Leno may be the most ridiculed man in late night these days, but he’s also a much bigger name than many of the more…
