The current September heatwave and dry conditions might make for a less-than-spectacular season, experts say.

Most of the trees are still green, but leaves will be turning in a few weeks.

There are lots of opportunities to see fall colors in the D.C. area, whether you stay local or take a road trip.

Peak colors in the region started around Oct. 19 and should extend until early November, making the coming days the best time to get out there and peek at some leaves.
