Smoke and Sparks on Green Line

The Washington Post reports that service between Prince George’s Plaza and West Hyattsville was interrupted yesterday after a surge suppressor and cable near West Hyattsville started smoking. One rider described the incident as terrifying, saying that she could see sparks and electrical explosions in the tunnel.
