The Washington Post reports what some of you who’ve been out using Metro today may have already heard: six-car train on the Green Line derailed just before 4 p.m. this afternoon near the Mt. Vernon Square/Convention Center stop, injuring 20 people, one of those seriously. Two trains on Metro’s Red Line bumped into each other this afternoon at the Woodley Park-National Zoo station. The AP reports: Metro spokeswoman Lisa Farbstein said the accident occured at 12:49 p.m., when a train servicing the Woodley Park station, headed in the direction of Shady Grove and was bumped from behind by an empty train. With a new study out concluding D.C.’s traffic problems are among the nation’s worst, everyone has had something to say about D.C.’s now scientifically-proven bad traffic. The study, conducted by something called the Texas Transportation Institute, ranks D.C. #3 in bad traffic in the country behind Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area.
