Web Site Collects Men Seeking Intern Craigslist Ads
Intern season is in full swing in Washington, and one local blogger has taken notice of just how many gross older dudes are hoping to hook up with them. The concept behind m4intern is simple: posting entire Craigslist ads, with links, that are expressly designed to lure young women in D.C. interning for the summer out for dates and sex. It’s not like you can’t find these on your own, but when someone is taking…

Washingtonpost.com Launches Local Blog Directory
We first heard about washingtonpost.com’s intentions to launch a comprehensive directory of D.C. area blogs last January, when they gathered a bunch of invited local bloggers to come have free soft drinks and chocolate-covered strawberries so they could pick all of our brains about how best to reach us on the interwebs. Today, we received the first word that the Local Blog Directory is up and running and available to users to register. Generally,…

Morning Roundup: Both Sides of the Story Edition
Isn’t it Friday yet, Washington? Alas, we’ve still got to muddle through two hot, muggy days before what’s looking to be another gorgeous weekend finally begins. With weather like this, you might be tempted to don footwear most people would deem inappropriate for work, like say, flip-flops. Other people might then be tempted to make fun of you for your choice of shoes, and they wouldn’t be wrong — flip-flops are, as we all know,…

Police Make Arrest in Crime Reported on Blog
An intriguing update from this morning’s Examiner: the MPD has taken action in the story of local blogger Amber over at Prettier than Napoleon we brought to you last week. If you’ll recall, Amber blogged about the experience of her friend, who called the police after an attempted burglary at her home. Despite the responding officers having then found the suspects and the victim being able to identify them, the officers refused to arrest the…

DCist Voted Favorite Local Blog by Washingtonian
Can you see us blushing through our computer screens? We’ve just learned that Washingtonian readers have voted DCist their Favorite Local Blog in the magazine’s annual Best & Worst issue, which hit newsstands today. The honor certainly makes us feel sheepish about questioning the publication’s readership’s taste in the past. At first, we were sure that this award was merely the result of the magazine’s excellent personnel decisions over the last year, but we’re assured…

Shaw Hearts Blogging
Shaw is officially the nation’s second bloggiest neighborhood. That’s the pronouncement from outside.in, a Web site which tracks local blogs, news and events in almost every American city. They combined a host of statistics including “total number of posts, total number of local bloggers, number of comments and Technorati ranking for the bloggers” and found the central D.C. ‘hood flush with blogs. The area’s diverse population, encroaching gentrification and long history provide lots of fodder…

Mei Gets Anxious, Poops
The National Zoo conducted their second exam on the as-yet unnamed panda cub yesterday, confirming not only that the baby is indeed a boy (not evident from the picture — that’s its tail, silly) but that panda moms love their babies. Hearing the little guy squeal made Mei Xiang become agitated and run around the enclosure. She defecated and also vocalized, producing sharp high-pitched barks. After was reunited with her cub and had the cub…
