Ralph Nader wants to make sure certain D.C. Councilmembers will make good on their promises to address the living wage bill, and would like to offer some advice, if they don’t mind.
The big box chain will open hiring centers for the stores at 99 H Street NW and 5968 Georgia Avenue NW on Monday at 900 2nd Street NE and 7818 Eastern Avenue NW.
Anita Bonds (D-At Large) was the only Councilmember to change her vote, joining the side who opposed the bill.

New Poll Shows That 71 Percent Of D.C. Voters Support LRAA, Group Pressuring Wells For Override Vote
New poll shows that 71% of D.C. voters support the living wage bill, and 63 percent of those voters would support a mayoral candidate who supports the bill.
After Mayor Gray announced he’s vetoing the living wage bill this morning, reactions from other Councilmembers and other organizations have been decidedly mixed.
“While the intentions of its supporters were good, this bill is simply a woefully inadequate and flawed vehicle for achieving the goal we all share,” Gray said of the veto.

New York Avenue Walmart Store Isn’t Happening
The Post’s Jonathan O’Connell reports that a deal between land owners Andrew, Dave and Jerry Schaeffer and developer Rick Walker “to build a shopping center anchored by Wal-Mart” isn’t happening anymore for unspecified reasons.
From January of this year until July, the city lost 7,000 government jobs.
