Less than a year after he joined the newspaper, John Temple is stepping down as one of The Washington Post’s managing editors.

Washington Post Executive Editor Martin Baron made the first big newsroom move of his leadership of the paper by announcing that national editor Kevin Merida will be moving up the masthead to managing editor.

Marcus Brauchli will leave his position as executive editor of The Washington Post next January 2, the newspaper announced today. Martin Baron of The Boston Globe will succeed him.
