Maryland Elections Board Takes Emergency Legal Action Seeking To Prevent Delays In Voting Results
Prompted by delays in certifying primary results, the board is seeking approval to count mail-in ballots ahead of Election Day.
Due to a Maryland law, election officials can’t start counting mail-in ballots until after polls close on Election Night.
The Court of Appeals changed the original June 28 date of the primary after a series of challenges to the legislature’s redistricting plan that still need to be resolved.
