Just 22 of the former McPherson Square encampment residents have moved into housing of some kind, chipping away at the community’s trust of government services.
D.C. officials moved the planned encampment clearing up by two months, citing health and safety concerns, but critics said the rushed closure would leave some residents with few options of where to go.
The National Park Service plans to clear a homeless encampment in McPherson Square on Feb. 15, two months ahead of the original date.
The 900 block of 15th Street NW is blocked off.

Eight months after their camping gear first started filling up McPherson Square, members of Occupy D.C. discovered today that the last remaining tents and tarps filling the park had been knocked over during the night.
