While a setback for parents and advocates, the judge’s ruling this week is not a final resolution of the lawsuit that three families filed in May against school board members and MCPS Superintendent Dr. Monifa McKnight.
Earlier this year, several families filed a lawsuit demanding they be allowed to opt out of LGBTQ+ course materials. A federal judge will decide whether to grant a preliminary injunction by the beginning of the school year.
PGCPS has increased, while MCPS has decreased, but overall less than half of kindergartners are still not ready for school.
