Washington Nationals fans might want to chuck their libraries of 1980s Scandinavian synthpop with the news that outfielder and first baseman Michael Morse was traded to the Seattle Mariners last night as part of a three-team deal.

Michael Morse’s first post-game tweet at 3:13 a.m was “Not going to say much .. Just thank you DC.” But the Nationals’ outfielder nicknamed “The Beast” ended up tweeting more to fans.

Even though they lost last night’s game, the Nationals had plenty of cause to celebrate by clinching the National League East and giving D.C. its first first-place baseball team in nearly 80 years.
