Given that the Washington metropolitan area is a hotbed of college hoops, DCist has taken the time to help run down the list of Midnight Madness events happening in the region.

This Friday marks the first time college basketball teams can run organized practice for the upcoming season. In other words, it’s Midnight Madness time.

October is arguably the greatest month on the entire sports calendar, though college basketball fans might disagree — March is still a long way off. But we do have Midnight Madness, otherwise known as the annual tip-off to the collegiate hoops season.
