Two Republicans Introduce Bill To Overturn D.C.’s Education Requirements For Child Care Workers
D.C. now requires child care workers to get college degrees or specific certificates, but a Republican senator from Utah and House member from South Carolina say that’s too onerous.
Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) is making another go at attempting to prohibit pregnant women who live in the District of Columbia from seeking abortions after 20 weeks.
Sen. Mike Lee is attempting to attach an amendment outlawing abortions for D.C. women after 20 weeks of pregnancy to a cybersecurity bill, which Sen. Joe Lieberman is trying to pass without any “non-germane” amendments.
Outraged over proposed legislation that would make it illegal for women in the District of Columbia to seek an abortion more than 20 weeks after a pregnancy begins, Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton staged a press conference Tuesday to excoriate the measure and its Republican sponsors.
