But based on their current savings rates, Apartment List calculated that it will take millennials in D.C. an average of 11.6 years to save for a 20 percent down payment.
Of all LendingTree’s mortgage requests in D.C. between August 1, 2016 and February 1, 2017, 46.8 percent came from the millennials.
