Local Go-Go and punk groups will be performing on the rooftop garden of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library through August.

Families braved long lines and, in most cases, years’ worth of waiting for the chance to check their eligibility for a public housing unit.

The virtual National Women’s History Museum is behind the new exhibit, which features nearly two dozen Black women activists who’ve made a mark on D.C. and the nation.

While the full exhibit will arrive this spring, the museum has already installed a shattered glass portrait of VP Kamala Harris on the museum’s first floor.

DC Punk Archive presents a summer series of rooftop shows featuring local bands, beginning June 8.

The suggestion followed growing criticism over library trustees’ decision to name an auditorium after Bezos in recognition of a $2.7 million donation he made to a childhood literacy program.

Bezos gave the D.C. Public Library $2.7 million late last year to create a new childhood literacy program, but critics say the auditorium’s naming is an insult to the library’s namesake, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Fully opening this September, a series of exhibits walks library visitors through decades of D.C. history and culture.

The longstanding local food nonprofit DC Central Kitchen has been selected to operate the new café.

The historic building is slated to reopen in 2020.
