Monotonix @ Comet Ping Pong
For most bands, a “warm-up” does not actually include cardiovascular movement. Yet, as Nashville’s Pujol barreled through a no-frills set of gritty garage rock on Friday night, Monotonix frontman Ami Shalev stood at the sound board vigorously jogging in place. This actually makes sense, considering that a Monotonix show isn’t so much about the songs as it is about the wild raucous party that the Israeli trio throw. In fact, the music almost acted as a backing soundtrack as Shalev clambered over every corner of Comet Ping Pong.
