After more than a decade of development delays the Rubell Museum is here — and will be free to District residents.

The oldest and largest of the military services is also the last to gets its own museum, housed in a dramatic steel-and-glass building containing rare artifacts and immersive exhibits.

People aged two and older must wear face masks, and hand-sanitizing stations will be placed throughout the building.

The Navy hasn’t identified a specific site for the new museum yet. 

“I am eager to engage further directions in the museum’s mission, embracing our digital present and future while furthering conversations around Black history, art, liberation and joy,” Young said.

If the bill makes its way into law, the Smithsonian would start looking for a place for the museum on the National Mall.

It’s unclear if the journalism museum will reopen after it vacates its flagship Pennsylvania Avenue building on Dec. 31.

The mobile museum highlights 200 years of black achievement in hockey, with exhibits featuring the founders, trailblazers, history makers, and Stanley Cup champions.
