A new report from the Department of Defense released today reveals that all of Navy Yard shooter Aaron Alexis’s turbulent past wasn’t reported, and could have prevented his clearance.

Friends and family of Navy Yard shooting victim Jerry Read have set up a scholarship fund in his memory.

Mary D. Knight’s family is seeking $37.5 million.

“One individual having lunch shared with us that she lost two coworkers in the shooting and thanked us for collecting donations,” Che Ruddell-Tabisola, the co-owner of the BBQ Bus and political director for the Food Truck Association, said.

All money raised Friday will go to the Community Foundation for the National Capital Region’s fund.
