Washington Suffers Late Game Loss to Cowboys
A day after Washington’s loss to…yes—hated rivals, the Dallas Cowboys, I find myself indulging in that oft-snarked out tendency of Redskins fans: the telling of sweet little lies. At least we didn’t get run out of the stadium, as we did against the Patriots. At least we didn’t collapse stupidly, like we did against the Eagles. At least the team we struggled with was a quality team (insofar as anything the NFC produces this year…

Skins Stave Off 1-8 Jets, Mediocrity
It took Joe Gibbs a few minutes to get to his point, but after only a couple cursory questions, he was able to say that, yes, the guys sure did “play their guts out” yesterday. It’s become a mantra of his, as though we’re rooting for a team of underdog high school kids and what matters isn’t whether they win or lose, but how they play the game. Their dramatic, come-from-behind victory in Dallas went a long way in sating fans’ appetites for victories. Santana Moss has put up a pair of fantastic games at wideout. The defense: as good as it gets. And even though the NFC East hasn’t presented a team that’s likely to bring home a championship this year, the division seems poised…
The sports world is alive with the story of old favorites returning to their former haunts. Even as our new and fresh-faced colleagues at Bostonist contend with the time-travelling brain-melt that is Antoine Walker returning to the Celtics after a year-plus sojourn in Tejas and the ATL, we at DCist are just now getting the news that the Redskins front office is in deep trade talks themselves, 2003 style. If you cast your mind back…

The Passion of the Gibbs–Season Roundup
With a 6-10 season wrapped, and the playoffs underway with only the New York Jets representing the hopes and dreams of the –Ist readership, the Washington Redskins turn their attention to the challenges of the offseason. Gibbs’ return to the sideline ended up not being the immediate return to glory that many had desired, but most fans, we’re sure, will simply content themselves knowing that Danny Snyder’s not planning on starting over from scratch…
