A new audit found only one of the 31 recommendations proposed nearly a year ago has been implemented at the Office of Unified Communications, which handles the city’s 911 and 311 call lines.
Karima Holmes previously led the agency while it was under intense scrutiny for its performance and alleged mishandling of dispatches.
The Office of Unified Communications’ director says the program will divert some calls away from D.C. police officers.
The audit was undertaken after three men drowned in a boating accident on the Potomac in 2020. Emergency responders had traveled to the wrong location.
