Here’s What’s Happening At D.C.’s Second Major ‘Open Streets’ Event On Georgia Avenue This Saturday
It’s the second time in three years that D.C. will fully close three miles of Georgia Avenue, though the pandemic did lead to other experiments with streets and sidewalks.
Georgia Avenue’s Open Streets event will take place on Oct. 2, kicking off a series of similar events that will occur in each ward over the next year.
Some District leaders want the city to do more to expand sidewalks, shut down lanes, or close whole streets so that pedestrians and cyclists can move about the city at a safe social distance from each other.
