Adorable cheetahs, frustrating pandas, a manipulative White House dog, cute otters, an inflatable shark and all the bloodsicles you can eat.

The National Zoo wants to make visitors forget they’re actually in a steamy, swampy city. Instead, with its newest exhibit, people will feel as though they’re in a Pacific Northwest riverbed, or perhaps a rocky cove in Northern California.

Admit it: May was kind of a rough month. The days turned long, but the weather got hot and sticky. Work was a slog. Enjoy the last day of May with a recap of National Zoo animals.

The Smithsonian’s National Zoo is introducing a family of 11 Asian small-clawed otters to the public tomorrow. Obviously, the otters are pretty damned cute.
