The National Zoo’s Panda Cub Officially Has A Name
Meet Xiao Qi Ji, which translates to “Little Miracle,” a baby panda whose birth and naming are moments of joy during the pandemic.
Say a virtual goodbye to the fishing cats, naked mole rats, clouded leopards, orangutans, and Asian small-clawed otters.
After going dark for six weeks, the National Zoo’s online tool for obsessive duotone bear fans is back online.
Traffic to the National Zoo’s Panda Cam jumped dramatically yesterday on news that Mei Xiang had produced another panda cub.
The National Zoo said yesterday it will receive $400,000 over the next two years from the Ford Motor Co. to study—what else?—giant pandas.

The National Zoo launched an app this week designed to help iPhone-owning visitors navigate their way around. And, oh yeah, it features live video streams of the pandas.

There’s a new tool combating pandas’ frankly pathetic interest in species propagation: panda porn. (Link is SFW) Zoo officials in China are using video of pandas mating to induce the animals to get it on during their shockingly short (24-48 hours) mating season. Above and beyond any mere Panda Cam, these flicks include loud audio and plenty of adult situations. The result has been many successful pregnancies. We can only hope this baby boom…

Butterstick Avoids Deportation
