The D.C. region continues to grapple with road closures and power outages after a severe thunderstorm Saturday.

Roughly 120,000 customers across the region lost power Sunday night as crews worked to rescue two people in the plane.

Pepco is shortchanging thousands of solar customers, according to AG Karl Racine’s office, undermining D.C.’s climate goals.

The neighborhood has suffered three outages lasting several hours each in the past three months.

Meteorologists say the next few days could be the hottest stretch since 2012, with temperatures approaching 100 and a heat index as high as 110 degrees.

Pepco received about 15,000 reports of power outages.

If approved, Pepco estimates that residential customers would see an increase of $4.36 a month.

They have extra employees ready and backup from Exelon.

“They put a couple of pennies in front of us, but meanwhile they’re reaching deep into our pockets,” says Ward 3 Councilmember Mary Cheh.

Ratepayers in D.C. will get a credit as part of the merger agreement with Exelon.
