Giant Donates $100,000 to Food Bank
Just a little straight up feel good PR from grocer Giant Food. The company sent out word today that it donated the $100,000 commission it received from the D.C. Lottery as a result of selling that winning $144 million Powerball jackpot ticket to the Capital Area Food Bank. The winning ticket came from the relatively new Giant on Alabama Avenue in Southeast. D.C. Powerball Winner Comes Forward, Anonymously
We still don’t know his name, but The Washington Post and WTOP now have more details on the Southeast D.C. man who formally claimed the $144 million Powerball jackpot today. He’s 82 years old, a lifelong D.C. resident, and a widower with 10 children and 47 grandchildren and great grandchildren.
