Doesn’t matter the genre—dance to something this week.

The D.C. bands at SXSW had an opportunity to gain new followers from all over the place. We asked some of these previously unconverted people their thoughts on what they’d just seen.

We asked several local musicians to go back through their Instagram feeds and share their favorite snapshots from the past year.

Are you a local band? Did you release a full length album in 2011? Did we forget to review it? If you answered yes to the first two questions, the answer to the third is probably also an affirmative. Oops. Our bad. We’re sorry. We’ll do better in 2012. Still, since “we’ll do better” doesn’t sound much like a retroactive “we’ll review your album,” relax. We’ll do that, too. Here are some brief thoughts on the local LPs that we’d meant to analyze earlier.

When we reported back in August that Le Loup guitarist May Tabol had left the Unbuckled alums to focus on her solo work, we figured that it probably wouldn’t be long until we started hearing more about her. Sure enough, after the summer had given us a few whispers and early performances and come colder weather, we started hearing a whole lot more about Pree. Pree doesn’t bear any resemblance to Tabol’s former band….
