Cheh to Introduce Legislation Urging Obama to Put ‘Taxation Without Representation’ Plates on Limo
Councilmember Mary Cheh (D-Ward 3) plans on introducing legislation next week that would urge President Obama to put the city’s “Taxation Without Representation” license plates on the presidential limo, a move he avoided during his first term.
The Post’s Reliable Source reported yesterday that WTOP Political Analyst and longtime voting rights agitator Mark Plotkin cornered Obama advisor David Axelrod at the Radio and Television Correspondents’ Association dinner last Friday and pressed for the president to put the “Taxation Without Representation” tags on the presidential limousine. Via WTOP, the CBS News Political Hotsheet blog reported a quote from an Obama spokesperson that we missed last week: President Obama still hasn’t decided whether he will put the District’s “Taxation Without Representation” license plates on his presidential limousine, and is in fact still using the plates that President Bush used.
