Statehood Activists’ Flag Drop Video Online
D.C. statehood activists yesterday unfurled a giant District of Columbia flag on the Dumbarton Bridge yesterday. The image is from a short video posted to Mike Flugennock’s website mikey ‘zine. The video shows many people honking in support of the display of the massive flag. The group included D.C. Stadium Protest Planned
Community groups and “several existing and newly elected council members” are planning a rally on the steps of the Wilson Building tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. to protest “spending public funds for a $440 million baseball stadium.” (Via the Progressive Review) The protest is organized by the D.C. D.C. Public Schools on the Web
A new website has been launched highlighting deteriorating condition of D.C. public schools. So far the website, FixOurSchools.net, only features photos of Eastern Senior High School posted by site founder Marc Borbely. Marijuana Ad Back in Metro
The ACLU and a coalition of groups supporting drug law reform have announced advertisements questioning the wisdom of draconian drug laws will return to the metrorail system – specifically the Union Station and Capitol South stations. The advertisement was banned by an amendment to a 2004 spending bill which would have withheld federal transportation funding from any local transit authority which accepted advertisements critical of current drug laws.
