Red Line service will be unavailable at several downtown stations throughout the next two weeks for construction and maintenance. WMATA says ridership is historically lower during the holiday season.

Officials say the new signage will help riders more easily navigate the region. Metro also announced several Red Line stations will close for repairs over the winter holidays.

The Yellow Line remains closed.

Both the forecast and Metro’s train times look better this weekend than last.

Commuters on the Red Line had a bumpy Monday morning commute, with shuttle buses replacing Metro trains on a stretch of the line in Northwest.

Starting Saturday and running though the end of August, Red Line service will be limited between the Dupont Circle and Van Ness Stations.

A Metro spokesperson said the victim “is currently in stable condition, and there were no additional injuries.”

The transit agency says the impact on customers will be minimal.

The Washington Metrorail Safety Commission says its preliminary investigation found the operator ran a red signal, which has been a fireable offense in previous instances.

Metro has suspended service between Van Ness and Dupont Circle stations, right in time for the evening commute.
