Nats Update: Offseason’s Bounty

Jim Bowden has been a busy man this offseason. Since we last left the Nationals, they have acquired outfielder Elijah Dukes, infielder Aaron Boone, pitcher Tyler Clippard, and catcher Paul Lo Duca. They have also signed outfielder Wily Mo Pena to a one year deal. Betting that he can’t possibly have two horrible years in a row, the Nats have also signed outfielder Ryan “more strikeouts than total bases” Langerhans to a one year deal….

Nats Update: Two More ‘Til 72

Well, we are reaching the end of the season. The Nationals stand two games away from their stated, and admittedly pathetic, goal of 72 wins — one better than last year. They have 5 games remaining, two against the Mets and three against the Phillies, all on the road. Given that the Nats are 30-46 on the road this year, these last two wins should be tough. Francoeur Grand As Nats Drop Two of Three To Atlanta

Just two days after Ken Griffey, Jr., and the Reds overcame a three-run 11th inning deficit to stun the Nationals’ bullpen, the Braves terrorized the Nats beleaguered pen. This time, Jeff Francoeur beat Chad Cordero in grand style Saturday night to send the Nats to what was then their fourth straight loss.
