The Washington Metrorail Safety Commission found issues with how Metro powers its third rail system.

An independent safety commission says Metro isn’t ensuring that train operators get enough time off between shifts, raising the risk of crashes.

Safety officials say Metro failed to properly report and classify a March incident where a Red Line train stalled for 90 minutes outside the Rhode Island Avenue station.

The head of the D.C. Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency says locals should treat all nonessential travel the same.

Two recent drownings could indicate more activity along the waterway, according to the city.

Expect fewer desks, with empty space between them, perforated by high plexiglass walls. Hand sanitizer will always be in sight.

“Transit assaults are at an epidemic level and Metro must address this urgent issue of safety so that workers and the riding public are protected,” says the union that represents bus operators.

The 4,000-series will no longer be used at the front of train’s due to an issue with the automatic train control system

“We’re still going to do our jobs, and work around the clock, and keeping the officers focused and staying safe is really important.”
