The Tidal Basin seawalls currently flood daily at high tide. NPS approved a project to elevate the walkways.

The tidal basin is sinking and the Potomac is rising. The National Park Service is working to shore up the walkways and protect the cherry trees.

The sculpture shows flood levels of five historic storms, as well as how high waters could rise in the future.
