Reminder: O Street Giant Closes Today
Don’t forget, Shaw residents: today is your last chance to pick up groceries at the Giant supermarket at 1414 8th Street NW. The grocery store will be closing its doors today at 6 p.m.
It’s been no secret that, at some point, the Giant supermarket at 1414 8th Street NW in Shaw would close — after all, it’s difficult to build a new development which features a brand new, 35,000-square-foot supermarket with an old one standing in the way. Like last year, Nats fans will be able to park for free at RFK and catch the free shuttle to the ballpark. More interesting: Tuss notes that “Team officials have not yet announced plans for any changes to parking around the stadium.” Considering all the…

Transit on Tuesday: The Streetcar Shuffle Edition
The Examiner yesterday brought us the unfortunate news that Ward 1 D.C. Council member Jim Graham is putting a temporary kibosh on the long-planned first phase of DDOT’s streetcar plans. The first stage of the plan – noted as “Anacostia Phase 1” on the map to your right – would link Bolling Air Force Base to Anacostia Metro station. The line’s a vital part of the District’s long-term plans to connect the majority of Southeast…
