Reminder: SmartBikeDC Program Ends January 3
Just a PSA for all of you bike-sharing devotees out there: SmartBikeDC, the precursor to the city’s shiny new Capital Bikeshare system, will be officially disbanded on January 3, 2011. Riders recorded more than 50,000 trips on the now-obsolete SmartBike system since it opened in August 2008. The ten existing SmartBike stations will be removed and replaced with Capital Bikeshare stations over the first five weeks of the new year….

SmartBike DC Program Set to Expand
Hot scoop from WTOP’s Adam Tuss: D.C.’s SmartBike shared bicycle program is going to expand from 10 to 50 racks, meaning an increase from 100 to 500 bicycles, by the end of this summer. New racks are planned all over the city, including spots in Adams Morgan, Columbia Heights, Capitol Hill, Anacostia and Georgetown.
