Acting on behalf of a gay couple in New Jersey who found their engagement photo being used as campaign fodder in Colorado, the Southern Poverty Law Center filed a lawsuit against Virginia-based Public Advocate of the United States.

The Southern Poverty Law Center is going forward with plans to Public Advocate of the United States over a direct-mail campaign that sent Colorado voters a doctored version of a New York gay couple’s engagement photo.

The man accused of shooting a security guard in the offices of the Family Research Council last week carried with him the address of the offices of a second conservative organization.

The head of the Family Research Council said another organization’s literature enabled yesterday’s shooting of a security guard in a Gallery Place office.
