State Sen. Augustine’s bill would raise Maryland’s investment in the 988 Trust Fund from $5 million to $12 million, and make it recurring.

Dr. Chelsea Van Thof lost her partner to suicide earlier this year, and she has turned her grief into advocacy for a bridge barrier she says can save lives.

Starting Saturday, 988 will replace 800-273-TALK (8255) as the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.
