D.C. officials have been promising credit card payment options in taxicabs for months. But by summer it might actually happen.
Metro’s plan for more riders to use SmarTrip cards is working: purchases of the reusable cards increased 27 percent since July.
It took less than an hour for the D.C. Taxicab Commission to propose and rescind a surcharge that would have made taxi rides more expensive during the Washington Nationals’ playoff games.

Metro Shelves Union Station Surcharge Proposal
