Members of Congress debated the merits of the Frank Gehry-designed Eisenhower Memorial yesterday.

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) has added his name to the list of people that want to slow down the design and planning process for the Eisenhower Memorial.

In a statement released today, Susan Eisenhower, the granddaughter of the 34th president, asked for more time so a more agreeable design for the Eisenhower Memorial could be reached.

Today Frank Gehry unveiled some refinements to his controversial design for the Eisenhower Memorial. While the statue of the 34th president has changed, the 80-foot-tall metal tapestries framing the memorial have remained.

As a congressional committee heard complaints over a proposed memorial for President Dwight D. Eisenhower during a hearing yesterday, architect Frank Gehry said he would be open to making changes to his controversial design.
