D.C. Taxis Now Do Deliveries
After years of fighting ride-hailing services, the commission has generally moved on to trying to emulate them.
You can be your own cabbie with SideCar, a new ride-sharing app set to arrive in D.C. today.
A group of activists want the city’s new uniform color scheme for taxicabs to include the phrase “Taxation Without Representation.”
D.C. taxicabs will have to offer credit card payment options by March 31. The choice of technology will be theirs, though.

Uber Introduces Taxi-Hailing Service in D.C.
The sedan-by-smartphone company Uber is making the most of its newfound legality in D.C. with the introduction today of service that will permit users to reserve standard-issue taxicabs.
Various D.C. legislators dislike a slate of nine proposed taxicab color schemes enough that they’re pondering stepping in to come up with something more agreeable.
A panel of D.C. judges overturned a $35 million contract that would bring smart meters to the city’s 6,500 cabs, meaning that paying with a credit card might still be a few months off.

Uber Drops Taxi-Hailing Service in New York
Add New York City to the list of places where Uber is running into trouble. The company, known best for its luxury-sedan-hiring mobile application, is shutting down another of its operations offered by its New York branch.
