The deadly shooting marks the 18th death of a child by homicide in the District this year, adding to the grim toll gun violence has taken on kids in the region in 2022.

A teenager was reportedly stabbed inside the National Zoo this afternoon. Around 4:30 p.m., D.C. Fire and EMS tweeted that they were treating a teenage male with “serious, potentially life-threatening” injuries on the 2900 block of Connecticut Avenue.
